Since completing studies at Yeshiva College (B.A., 1964) and Columbia University (M.A. 1965, Ph.D., 1970), Rabbi David Berger has pursued research in the history of medieval Jewry, Jewish-Christian relations, messianic ideas and movements, the intellectual history of the Jews, and contemporary Orthodox Judaism. He is the author of The Rebbe, the Messiah, and the Scandal of Orthodox Indifference (London and Portland, Oregon: Littman Library of Jewish Civilization, 2001) and numerous other books and articles. Prof. Berger is the immediate past President of the Association for Jewish Studies, a member of the Executive Committee of the American Academy of Jewish Research, and Vice-Chair of the Academic Advisory Committee of the National Foundation for Jewish Culture.
